Get your fix of fresh mountain air and mountain views when you snowshoe, ski, or split board up from the Mt. Baker ski area past Artist and Huntoon Point.
Arrive at the upper ski resort parking lot (approx. 4300 feet elev.) and snowshoe, skin, or split board up. Make your way toward Artist Point and eventually Huntoon Point, gaining approximately 1500 feet of elevation over approximately 3 miles (one way). Past Huntoon Point, there are several great spots to set up camp and prepare yourself for an epic sunset and sunrise between Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan.
Directions: From I-5 near Bellingham, drive east on Highway 542 (the Mt. Baker highway) to the upper Mt. Baker Ski Resort parking lot at Heather Meadows.

Be sure to check avalanche conditions before heading to this adventure.
GEAR:
- Backpacking gear
- A tent worthy of snow camping (four- or three-season) if going in winter
- A sleeping bag and pad worthy of snow camping (in a sleeping pad, look for R-value at or about 4) if going in winter
- Snowshoes, skis, or split board -- winter only
- Gators -- winter only
- Shovel / avalanche probe / beacon (as needed)
- Food and beverages
