Depending on the year, these gorgeous 70-foot falls may freeze come winter and transform the trail into a winter wonderland. It's the perfect introduction for anyone who wants to try snoeshoeing!
Depending on the road conditions and where you parked, the hike will be somewhere between 5-6 miles roundtrip. I always advise checking the weather and Washington Trail Association trip reports for the latest information.
If conditions are ideal, grab your snowshoes and head to the mountains! You can also rent them from REI. The route is very pleasantly graded with minimal elevation gain as you meander through second-growth forest. Toward the end, take caution as some areas can be icy and the path can be narrow. You'll soon reach a clearing, where you can take off your snowshoes and (carefully) slide down to the river and waterfall area.
As always, practice Leave No Trace principles to ensure that everyone can enjoy the trail.

Snowshoe to Franklin Falls Reviews
Came here once and loved the icicles. This was the first time seeing icicles that big in real life. It's amazing to be able to see a frozen waterfall.
5.0
Hiking Franklin Falls in the snow is quiet the experience. At the end of the hike there was a steep section that ended up like a slide for most people. The water fall is almost completely frozen with sharp icicles dangling off the rocks. Looks super neat!
