Skiing Utah's Mount Timpanogos
Provo, Utah
Description
Added by Devin Earl
Climbing and skiing the second tallest mountain in the Wasatch Front. Nearly 5,000 feet of vertical elevation change. Some of the best snow in the world. Skiing steep lines. Fantastic views of Utah County and the Wasatch Mountains.
Start at the Aspen Grove trailhead for Mt. Timpanogos. Go straight up the southwest side of Primrose Cirque and keep climbing until it levels out continue past East Timp to the shelter by Emerald Lake. From Emerald Lake, skin up where the snowfield is during the summer (south from the shelter). When you hit the ridge continue across to where you want to drop in.
Extreme avalanche danger can exist depending on the time of year, snow conditions, and time of day. If going in the spring, an early start is advised to get to the top of primrose cirque not long after sunrise to avoid rockfall and avalanches due to rapid heating.
