Good to get out from the rain.

Second lap!

Good monday outing!

Great afternoon stroll in Sebastopol. I started from from the dog park parking lot in Ragle. Keep in mind there’s a $7 parking fee if you dont have a Sonoma County Parks pass.

The rocky and steep entrance to the beach made it a little tricky for my crew (4 year old and 1 year old). Will be better when they're a bit older. With that said, it was a great opportunity to see sea life and swim in a fairly protected area. Keep an eye out for urchins and explain to your kiddos how to look out for them before you get in the water.

Great path in Ko Olina for a morning stroller walk with the kiddos.

Really nice walk with great views of the lagoons and Pacific Ocean. Benches, beaches, and grassy areas to take a break. There are bathrooms and water fountains along the path. The path is paved and there are plenty of strollers and wagons present.

The parking at Secret Beach is pretty limited, about a dozen spaces. Its best to get here early or find a larger parking lot and walk to the green turtle trailhead. The beach itself is well- maintained and has beautiful views. There were plenty of families there before 7am to hang out as well as several taking family photos.

Good walk

Hike was a little challenging on the way back up from creekside connector, but really good to get out on a fairly well-covered trail close to Occidental.

Steelhead beach has a big parking lot that with a fee per car to enter. There are bathrooms and a large staging area. The beach itself isn't too big and isn't the one I would pick for a beach day, but it's a great launch spot for floating down the Russian River to Sunset Beach or futher.

Great place to stretch the legs.

Despite parking lots closed signs at Doran, Bodega Dunes, and Wrights Beach on 4th of July weekend, we still lucked out with a few open spots at Portuguese Beach. There is a short hike (2 mins) down to the water from the parking lot and plenty of families with sun shades out and about. Make sure you're keeping an eye on the ocean if you head down to the shore. Lots of strong currents and shorebreak, especially if you're close to the rocks. With that said, my daughter still loved seeing the sea life next to the cliffside and dipping her toes in the water (I just made sure to hold her hand the whole time).

Miwok Campground at Doran Regional Park was a great spot for us! We were in campsite O just over a small dune from the beach. There is a fire pit with a grill grate, picnic table, and large flat spaces for tents. The bathrooms and parking lot were a quick <1 min walk, but we still felt like we had good separation from it. These campsites book up quickly for weekends, so keep an eye out for cancellations.

We were here with another family, in total 4 kids under 4 (2 babies). The sandy beach was great to run around on and the water, a little cold, was relatively calm and great to walk into with our 3-year-olds. Would definitely bring my family back to Doran especially on sunny days.

Watershed View was a good family-friendly trail for my 3-year-old, my dad, and me. The trail is short enough without too much elevation gain that I could carry my daughter in some parts and hike in others. Parking is a little limited as it’s a pull-off that holds about 8-10 cars and shares a trailhead with a longer trail. Dogs are permitted on the trail and there were a few groups taking their pups out for a walk.

The beach park at Kailua was a great stop with our young family. It was a little windy (windy side of the island) and rainy, but it didn’t slow us down. It was really helpful to have the larger parking lot and shower to rinse the sand off the kids. Added bonus: town is so close, which makes it great for grabbing a bite or treats after.

This loop hike in Point Lobos was a great one for the whole family. We used a carrier for our infant because it's not a good trail for strollers with steps and some rocks. Our 3-year-old did pretty great too, just a little bit of carrying. The trail itself has great views of the coast and a nice change of pace when you hit the Cypress grove. It's best to get there early - we parked just before 10 on a Saturday with no problem. Our parking lot was full by 11:30 when we got back to our car. There is a few to drive into Point Lobos. As of 2023 it's $10, but free if you have a CA state parks pass.

Salmon Creek is one the most popular breaks in Sonoma County. There is a parking lot and several pull-offs for parking. The lot has put toilets if needed. The beach is not dog friendly and if considering bringing small kids, the current can be pretty strong so you may be better off at other less exposed beaches.

Ives is great for the whole family. The park is located only a couple of blocks off Main Street. The pool usually stays pretty busy with a small fee to swim. There are also picnic tables and BBQs you can use.

Sunset Beach River Park has an ample parking lot. There is a small fee you have to pay to park there with rangers checking in occasionally. Note that it's about a quarter mile walk from the parkint lot to the water.

Mom's Beach was a great afternoon stop in Forestville. The beach is gravel with a little bit of sand close to the water. The water was decently warm for 6pm in August. My almost 3-year old was able to walk out ab9ut 25 feet from the shoreline and still have her head above water. Added bonus is a trip into downtown for pizza at Sonoma Pizza Co.
