Night Hike Painted Canyon
Riverside County, California
Description
Added by Juan Moreno
Great Hiking. Stunning Views. Slot Canyons. Ladder Canyons. Geologic Formations. Other Worldly Views. Views of Surrounding Areas. Great Night Photography. The Rush of Hiking at Night. 2-3 mile loop hikes.
Take Box Canyon Rd to Painted Canyon Road. Painted Canyon Road is a dirt road, so exercise caution. The road dead ends at the Painted Canyon Trailhead parking lot.
Once on the trail, look out for markers and arrow rock piles pointing to the slot canyons and other trails. Some climbing is necessary to access the tight areas of the canyons, but it's not too difficult. The slots are fun as they lead upward to the top of the hills and offer stunning views of the Mecca Hills, the canyons below, and surrounding areas like the Salton Sea. And of course, be sure to take in the night sky. There are great photo opportunities throughout.
Note:
- Trail loops are around 2-3 miles round trip
- No Restrooms so be prepared
