Nothing compares to the unique landscape of the California central coast, and these trails at Fort Ord National Monument, located in beautiful Monterey County, CA let you take it all in while whizzing through scenic forests and across rolling ridges.

Fort Ord National Monument is a fantastic place to cruise around on your mountain bike, whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider looking for flowy trails to cruise on. Access is easy from the highway and there is ample room in the parking lot even on busy days.

Dozens of trails wind through the canyons and ridgelines of this open park, and linking up trails is easy with a network of gravel roads connecting everything together.

The Goat Trail (Trail 41) is a favorite – a fantastic descent down one of the higher ridges and if you are lucky past the large herd of goats that call the area home.

Even though trails here are not very technical the views are absolutely breathtaking.

Be sure to check on local conditions as the trails can be closed after a heavy rain.
