Description

Lake Lagunitas is an easy 1.6 mile loop trail that's popular with hikers, families, and mountain bikers in Marin County.
Located near Fairfax, California, this trail is relatively flat and provides peaceful views of the lake as you pass over small creeks and groves of redwoods. It's good for all skill levels and is accessible year-round. It's a great trail for families and beginner mountain bikers.
It can be a little unclear how to reach the trail from the parking lot. When you park, walk toward the day use picnic area. From there, there is a fire road (easier for bikes) and stairs that run down from the dam that will take you up to the lake.
There is a parking fee of $8.

Lake Lagunitas Reviews
This hike in the tamalpais watershed was a great trail for my family. My wife, 6-month old, and I were able to hike this loop pretty easily while getting views of the lake on this mostly shaded trail. Mountain bikers use the trail as well so keep an eye out. Keep in mind that there’s an $8 parking fee that you pay as you come into the watershed. Rangers were ticketing while we were there. Also, you lose reception as you enter the watershed. After purchasing your parking pass, follow the road until it dead ends at the final parking lot, which is for Lake Lagunitas.
