Kaleetan Lake via Denny Creek Trail

If you want to visit multiple lakes, get a view of or tackle a peak at Kaleetan, Chair, and Bryant, campgrounds for overnight or weekend adventures, fish in the lakes, explore off the trail and natural waterslides and picnic area waterfalls, this is for you. Denny Creek Trail offers it all!

After the first mile on the trail, you will run into the Natural Waterslide and rocks that you can have a picnic on. If you can, keep going up the trail an additional 0.7 miles to reach the Keekwulee Falls. An Additional 0.5 miles past Keekwulee Falls is Snowshoe Falls.

After 2.3 miles, you will arrive at the first lake, Melakwa Lake, with lots of campsites and amazing views of the 3 peaks. If you go up the saddle between Kaleetan and Bryant Peak you can make your way down to Chair Lake and get an amazing view of Snow Lake.

If you make the turn onto Pratt Lake trail travel 2.4 miles down to Lower Tuschatchie Lake just as you arrive at the lake look for the turn to the left and travel 3.1 miles to Windy Lake. The best part about this part of the trail is no one is on it and it offers a great uphill climb.

0.7 miles past Windy Lake and my destination is Kaleetan Lake. 11 Miles one way and 22 miles round trip.

From Seattle, head east on I-90 to exit 47 Denny Creek/Tinkham Road. At the top of the exit ramp turn left and cross over the freeway. Go .2 miles and turn right at the stop sign onto Forest Road 58. The road crosses under the freeway and after .2 miles turn left. Continue ahead for 2.4 miles take a left just after Denny Creek Campground and pass the Franklin Falls trailhead. The road here is fairly potholed so use caution. Cross a bridge and it's just .2 miles further to the trailhead.

A Northwest Forest Pass and an Alpine Lakes Wilderness Permit are both required. These permits are available at the trailhead.
