McCall Point (also called Tom McCall Point) is a 5-mile hike through a beautiful nature preserve. Take in great views of the Columbia River Gorge the minute you leave the car.

The trail begins at the Rowena Crest Overlook on the Old Columbia River Highway between Hood River and the Dalles. Park at the Rowena Overlook, and you find the trail on the south side of the area. Follow the trail to the top of McCall Point. The trail is fairly level at first but then climbs steeper and steeper as you work your way up Tom McCall Point.

You can hike this trail almost any day of the year, although that could be a challenge in winter – if it is wet outside, this trail can get really slippery! Especially from March through October, this hike provides you with a wonderful variety of landscapes to enjoy.

Note: Dogs are not permitted on the trail or in the preserve.

Took three of my friends on this hike last week (two who don't hike very often) and it was a great length and the perfect about of difficulty for new hikers! Didn't hurt that the views were incredibly rewarding and wildflowers we're everywhere. Such a rare view where you can see Mount Adams and Mount Hood at the same time! Recommend for families and people who are just getting into hiking-- it's hard but totally doable

The cool thing is that this adventure starts at Rowena Crest, one of the most photographed places in Oregon. This is one of my favorite places to visit during spring when flowers are blooming from May to June.

This is a lovely hike and I highly recommend it! The description is accurate, the climb is a bit intense at a few points, but would rate it more moderate overall. The views are exceptional - you can see the entire Gorge, Mt Adams and Mt Hood, and so many beautiful landscapes. Lots of natural vegetation. In the early spring, tons of wildflowers abound. Even in late May, many wildflowers everywhere, creating lovely photo ops. Bring water and your camera!

Would've loved to do this hike but unfortunately it is a preserve and they don't allow dogs. Beautiful view point at th trailhead though!
