An amazing hike that takes in tarns, fells and a couple of Wainwrights to tick off the list. A lung busting first half an hour means the views are incredible and almost immediate.
Starting at the National Trust Stickle Ghyll car park (or utilizing the free on road parking) make your way up the well maintained steps and path taking in Stickle Ghyll. The first half an hour of this walk is the steepest, with an early (easy) river crossing before being presented with the awesome Stickle Tarn at the top. You can loop around the tarn and then head back the way you came for a shorter, hike. If you wish to extend the trip, I've added a couple of options below.
Upon reaching Stickle Tarn, circle the tarn anti-clockwise, heading up the back of Pavey Ark for some fun basic scrambling. Once up top, it's a steady ascent over to Harrison Stickle, and another peak in Pike of Stickle.
Or from Pavey Ark, head north to the top of High Raise, the tallest Wainwright in the Central Langdales. It can be windy up here, but there are some sunken walls at the top where you can tuck in and have a picnic if the weather permits.

Stickle Tarn Loop Reviews
I did the walk about 10 years ago and although I had been to the lakes many times as a kid this was the first proper adventure up there as an adult. It's an amazing part of the Lakes with loads to see. There is also Jack's Rake, a scramble up the front of Pavey Ark. Read up first though, not for the faint hearted!

Just got back from completing this walk and what a great little walk it is. Not the longest walk, but due to how steep and rocky the path is it does make it a challenge. The views from the top are a great reward!
