A beautiful 8.5-mile trail in the Uinta Mountains that passes 7 lakes and other small ponds.
The trail to Duck Lake in the Uinta Mountains starts at the Crystal Lake Trailhead and is a popular starting off point for many trails like Cliff Lake, so the parking lot fills up quickly.
Starting off, follow the signs for Long Lake. At about 1.3 miles you'll come to a junction. Follow the signs to the right leading you to Long Lake. After Long Lake, continue on the trail towards Island Lake for about a mile at which point you'll see signs and a spur going to the left for Duck Lake. Follow this trail down to Duck Lake where their are a bunch of really cool campsites on the east side of the like if you choose to backpack in. After eating a snack, fishing, or swimming at Duck Lake, continue following the trail to Pot Reservoir, Weir Lake, and Marjorie Lakes.
The trails cross a bunch of wetland areas, but thanks to the Forrest Service, they have created a bridges so you can hike these trails in early summer without getting your shoes terribly muddy.
The Mirror Lake Highway Recreation Corridor does require a fee if you are recreating in the area. Fees are as follows:
- 1-3 Day -- $6.00
- 7-Day -- $12.00
- Annual -- $45.00
Since this is federal land, they accept National Parks passes as well.
Enjoy!
