Get a great workout hiking or running up to Little Mountain. The trailhead is located roughly 20 miles outside of both Salt Lake City and Park City, making this a great after work workout.
Just off of Highway 80, head up Emigration Canyon Road to the trailhead. There is a large parking area on the opposite side of the road from the trailhead. The parking area comes equipped with a bathroom if you need one.
To get started, cross the road and start heading uphill. Keep in mind that the trail is exposed for the majority of the route, so if it's a warm day, remember to a hat, sunglasses, and water. The trail is well-marked up to the top.
On your route up, you'll enjoy great views of Little Del Reservoir and be able to see down the canyon to Salt Lake.
No dogs on the trail unfortunately.

Little Mountain in Emigration Canyon Reviews
This is a good Mt. Biking trail too. It is closed off in the winter months. Beautiful in the spring with all of the wildflowers. In the fall you can see the leaves changing their colors.

But I start at the trailhead just off of the freeway exit, right below the golf course on the right side of the road. It is such a quiet trail, passing by beaver homes. I almost always see deer, too. It is a very quiet trail to get away from more crowded trails. I love exploring the trails along Emigration Canyon, including the trails at the very top with Great Western Trail on the left where you can hike or run for miles!

I ran this trail all the way out to Look Out Peak, which is the highest point you can get to on this trail, and back which made for an awesome 12 mile run. Great rolling trail.

In the tagged descriptions this lists the hike as dog friendly. As far as I can tell it is not since it is an area in a watershed. Was hoping to take my pooch but now sadly disappointed :/

Definitely not an easy run on a hot day but totally doable and would be a pretty mellow hike if you took it easy. I think it'd be ideal in the fall when the leaves in Emigration and Parleys are going off and it's a little cooler.

The trail starts off pretty steep but once it levels out (for a bit) and then continues with ups and downs you'll have a great workout and some really awesome views. Bring water and some sunblock on a hot day and decent trail shoes. Lung burner for sure.
