See the entire Salt Lake Valley from the summit. Be CAREFUL of possible rattlesnakes on or near the trail during the summer.
This is the peak that can be seen from the valley located between Millcreek Canyon and Parleys Canyon. There are 2 trails that head up to this peak, but the one up Millcreek Canyon at the top of Church Fork is by far the more popular/enjoyable one (and the one described here). The other one heads straight up the face of the mountain.
It is a fairly straight forward hike and one of the easier peaks to summit around the Salt Lake Valley. The trail itself is well maintained and has a moderate incline nearly the entire way (gain of 2400 ft in elevation). Your legs will be burning by the time you reach the summit, but it is definitely doable for the average hiker. The trail is 6 miles round trip.
The entire Salt Lake Valley can be seen from the top. It is a great place to watch the sunset over the valley and the Great Salt Lake. On the way up you have beautiful views of both surrounding canyons.
Warning: I have seen several rattlesnakes on/near this trail during the summer so be careful!

Grandeur Peak East Trail Reviews
You'll definitely feel the burn in your legs on the way up, but accompanying this is spectacular views in all directions. Will definitely be doing this again for a sunrise/sunset hike.

Ive made this hike at both sunrise and sunset before and it was absolutely breathtaking both times. Pretty steep hike if you come from the west trail. Ive also been rattled at by a rattlesnake at the top among the crags, so watch out for rattlesnakes!!! They are there!

Very pretty hike. Highly recommend. An easy and fast way to bag a 8000 foot peak! Even had phone service most of the way up. (Writing this review from the top lol)

Great hike for those wanting something less challenging than many of the peaks in the Wasatch - great views also!

I've lived here my whole life and I've never done half of these hikes. This is a must do! I went on a rainy day and it was thundering so I was a bit nervous about going up but I did it anyways and the pay off is huge!

When it says 3 hours for a trip, it means 2 up and probably less than 1 down. Didn't make it all the way to the peak because of the snow but there was a shoulder towards the top that made for an amazing view.
