This panoramic viewpoint is only a short walk from the parking lot. You'll walk through the otherworldly maze of eroded badlands. This adventure is located a short distance from Furnace Creek Campground.
Zabriskie Point is a unique viewpoint in Death Valley National Park located just east of Furnace Creek on Hwy 190. The viewpoint is just a short stroll from the parking lot, so it’s great for groups and families. When you reach the viewpoint, you’ll be overlooking the epic maze of finely ridged badlands with the Black Mountains as a backdrop. The vibrantly colored badlands are especially stunning during sunrise or sunset.
Zabriskie Point is definitely best known for its distinctly eroded landscape. Most people take in the view from the main path, but following the trail at the bottom of the ramp allows you to take a surreal walk through the one of a kind badlands and appreciate the amazing rock formations from a different perspective. The badlands feature sediments from the dried Furnace Creek Lake which existed over 5 million years ago. These unique formations are not to be missed during your visit to Death Valley.

Zabriskie Point Reviews
Get there when the stars are still out, grab your headlamp and make your way up the paved trail to the viewpoint. Then hike a little off trail and separate yourself from the crowd and take some amazing sunrise photos.

I very much look forward to someday watching a sunset or sunrise at Zabriskie Point. We stopped here quickly and were impressed. Death Valley is one of those places that feels like it will just go on and on (in a good way!). It is vast and a less popular park (although this spot is very popular!), so very much worth a visit when it's not super hot out.

Very easy walk, great little pit stop to see beautiful views

This place is just beautiful. We had stopped by to make ourself a cup of coffee and stretched our legs while we were driving across Death Valley in the fall. Zabriskie Point was desert and we barely saw any people while we were there. The spot absolutely worth the stop.

Zabriskie Point is a must see for anyone making a trip to Death Valley NP. The views at sunset are insane....as long as you don't mind sharing them with dozens of your closest acquaintances.

Went here for sunset and it was amazing (except for the crowds). Definitely get there early to set up your tripod before everyone else tries to claim their place!
