Enjoy and photograph a beautiful sunrise on the beach. Once you start your day, explore the coast and surf the waves.
Wake up early for the sunrise on the beach and you won't regret it! Unless of course you hate beautiful sunrises... Parking is easy with a public parking lot right next to the beach entrance, you can't miss it!
After you finish enjoying the view, start walking to the right and you will encounter what feels like a whole other world. There are no buildings along this side and it is full of palm trees and other wildlife; very scenic. You have to cross some streams that empty to the ocean (so bring your fishing gear if you'd like) and enjoy. We ventured down a couple of the streams and had a great time feeling like we were in the jungle. On this side of the beach, we also saw a couple packs of wild dogs. They kept their distance and did not seem interested in us at all, which we did not mind (I love animals, don't get me wrong! but I'm not sure I'm into a pack of wild dogs running at me).
Once we had our fill of adventuring this side of the beach, we walked back to the entrance and did a bit of surfing. If you were unable to bring your surfboard with you, no worries! There were enough places to rent along the shore. Right next to the beach there was a cute little shack with a man that rents boards when he's there with his dog at $10 for 2 hours: cheap! There is also an actual surf company that rents and gives lessons not too much farther down.
There is a mini skate park past the parking lot where you can practice tricks or watch the locals show off their skills; which I have to say were very good! Almost everyday I would see the same few kids practicing and all that practice was certainly paying off.
When you start to get hungry, I would highly recommend stopping off at Boardriders. They have different happy hour specials for drinks and food everyday. And the view is killer! Being just steps from the surf break, it would be hard to have a bad view.
