Doran is a good beginner surf spot because it is typically smaller than other local spots due to the cove's protection from larger northern winter swells.

We were here with another family, in total 4 kids under 4 (2 babies). The sandy beach was great to run around on and the water, a little cold, was relatively calm and great to walk into with our 3-year-olds. Would definitely bring my family back to Doran especially on sunny days.
