Come one, come all - the majestic Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is amidst the miles of old growth redwoods that stretch up the coast of Northern California. Jedediah Smith Redwoods contains 7% of all old-growth redwoods left in the world.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park offers activities for everyone: you can backpack and hike through lush rainforests, or fish, snorkel, and kayak in the Smith River (popular film The Last of the Mohicans was filmed just upstream!). Howland Hill Road is perfect for a scenic drive filled with unique historical facts. The entire family can enjoy a campfire program at Jedediah Smith Campground!

There are an abundance of tent sites, along with four cabins that are ADA accessible. The cabins have electricity, heaters, and lights (but no kitchen or bathroom).

Four cabins, all of which are ADA accessible, are located within the Jedediah Smith Redwoods Campground within Redwood National and State Parks.

The campgrounds remain open year round, and the park is open from dawn till dusk for day use. There are no pets allowed. To make a reservation, search for Jedediah Smith Redwoods SP here.

This might be the best state park in California. Facility wise, it’s the cleanest. Bathroom and shower house are so nice! Heated too!! And any time you can camp amongst the giant redwoods, you know you’re in for a treat! This campground is on repeat for sure. It’s about 6 hours north of San Francisco. The drive north 101 is gorgeous. You can easily spend the entire day making the drive with stops in Santa Rosa, Cloverdale, Willits, the Avenue of the giants, and Eureka. Since this state park is a long drive from the Bay Area and from Portland to the north, I’d give yourself a few days to explore the area and really enjoy your time as this amazing campground.

Hike Stout Grove via the Stout Grove Trailhead

Marked with adequate signage, parking for the Stout Grove Trailhead is off Highland Hill Road, a road through the south end of the park.
