Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito Reviews

What a wonderful way to explore the bridge and Sausalito! Talk about up close and personal! I’ve done this route a number of times and it never gets old. Make sure to wear layers as it can get pretty windy and cold.

We biked the Golden Gate to Sausalito during our first weekend living in the Bay Area. Coming from the flat east coast, the steep hills were a little intimidating, but still very doable! Biking over the bridge is an unique and special experience. We spent the afternoon in Sausalito playing tourist. Be sure to stop for tacos at at the Sausalito Taco Shop!

My first bike ride and i loved it! trail is easy to follow. Only difficult parts are 1 semi steep hill to the bridge and biking back to return the bike through busy streets. (I rented bike) Sausalito is a beautiful small town with delicious food, kind people and you can ferry back and enjoy a boat ride!

Hopping across the Golden Gate Bridge is a rite of passage for most tourists, who either walk or cycle over this 80-year-old structure fairly tentatively. For good reason - cross winds, fog and loud traffic make for a tough ride. Locals whistle at twice the speed through the same 10ft-wide channel, so though crossing the Bridge is a must, it should also be taken on with the calmest temperament.

Fun way to get some exercise and experience the Golden Gate. And I highly recommend taking the ferry back.

This is a lot of fun for older children and adults. There are places to rent cruiser bikes or bring your own! Give yourself enough time to stop along the way for photo ops and sight-seeing. We timed it so that we were taking the ferry back from Sausalito at Sunset, and it was beautiful!
