Great overnight camping with amazing views Angeles National Forest.
We started out at 8am on a Sunday, usually parking at Ice House Saddle can be tricky, I would advise going earlier. We headed out on our journey hiking up to the saddle, when you reach the switchbacks there is a fresh water spring, it's the last place you can get water...so stock up! We pressed on to Kelly's Camp. Where we picked a spot and unloaded our stuff (we were the only ones there!). After eating some lunch we headed up to Ontario Peak for a beautiful evening hike. It was around 4pm when we reached the top. There is an old tree with a bottle opener bolted to it's center, be sure to bring something to enjoy at the top! Cause we wish we had! To the right there is a large boulder with a huge crack in it. It's there you'll find a red can, in it there are two notepads filled with hikers's memories! Don't worry there's a pen for you! We headed back down to witness one of the best sunsets I have ever seen!In the morning, we packed up and headed back to Ice House Saddle to connect to Cucamonga Peak trail. After passing an old mine we met some people (4 groups), who had decided to turn back because the compacted ice was so bad at the last few switchbacks. Lucky enough, I had brought my micro spikes so I was ok. Sean was able to make his own way by hiking where there was snow not ice. We made it safely to the top! Great view but I think my favorite had to be Ontario Peak! We headed back down pass the saddle to the parking lot! It was a great time. Just be sure to bring enough water! We were melting snow at the top of Cucamonga Peak.
